The National Philosophical Counseling Association (NPCA), formerly the American Society for Philosophy, Counseling, and Psychotherapy (ASPCP), is the first association of philosophical counseling in the United States. Established in 1992 under the auspices of the American Philosophical Association (APA), it was the first U.S. association of philosophical counseling to begin to certify philosophical counselors:
